Visiting the Blaine House

A tour of the Blaine House explores the first-floor rooms of the house, as well as the gardens and grounds when weather permits. During your tour you’ll explore the historical background of teacher turned political leader, James G. Blaine and the Governor and First Families that have called the Blaine House home since 1920. Guided tours are available for free Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, but must be scheduled in advance.  There are no walk-in visits.

Tours may be scheduled through the Maine State Museum no less than 5 days prior to your visit. All adult visitors are asked to provide personal information to allow for a security check prior to your tour and will be asked to provide identification upon arrival. Host an Event

Holidays

The Blaine House transforms during the holiday season with the help of dedicated volunteers.  Each year, a theme is chosen to highlight the beauty of the home and its connection to Maine.  Holiday tours may be scheduled through the Maine State Museum.

The 2025 Holiday Theme was Scenes of Maine featuring decorations celebrating our beautiful views across oceans, beaches, lakes, mountains and the spectacular night sky.
